Catenix manages point-of-care testing from patient registration through to the verified report. Move between sections with the left sidebar; press Ctrl+K to search and jump anywhere. The actions available to you depend on your role.
1 · Register a patient
- Open Patients and choose Register.
- Enter the patient's details — required fields are marked; your clinic may have added its own questions.
- Save. The patient is given a permanent patient ID and is matched on return visits.
2 · Check in & label the sample
- Find the patient and choose Check in.
- This creates the visit (encounter) and a unique accession number.
- Record any check-in measurements (height, weight, BP…) the clinic asks for.
- Print the tube label and apply it to the sample — the barcode is how results find the patient.
3 · Run the test & review results
- Run the sample on the analyser; results arrive automatically in Results Explorer.
- Each result is matched to the patient by the accession barcode.
- Open a result to approve it, or reject it with a reason. Critical results are highlighted.
- A result from a device whose QC has failed is quarantined — held until a clinician releases it.
4 · Quality control
- In QC, record a QC run for a device, analyte and level.
- The Levey-Jennings chart flags Westgard-rule breaches automatically.
- Comment on or exclude a stray QC point so it doesn't skew the statistics.
- Clear a QC lockout once the underlying issue is resolved.
5 · Reports
- Open a completed encounter and choose Generate report.
- Review the PDF, then deliver it to the patient through the secure link.
6 · Admin & configuration
The admin portal at /admin handles client onboarding, users, roles & permissions, intake forms, sites, reference ranges and modules. Multi-site clinics pick their active site from the header so every action is attributed to the right site.
Frequently asked questions
- A result isn't showing against the patient.
- Check the accession barcode on the tube matches the encounter's. Results match by accession — a mistyped or missing barcode leaves a result unlinked.
- Why is a result “quarantined” or on hold?
- It came from a device whose QC had failed. Resolve the QC issue, then a clinician can release the result.
- I get a permission error doing something.
- Your role doesn't include that action. An admin can adjust what each role may do under Roles & Permissions in the admin portal.
- How do I add a user, site or device?
- Users, sites and client onboarding are in the admin portal (/admin). Devices appear automatically when the gateway connects, or can be added in the Devices tab.
- A device shows offline.
- Check the gateway PC is on and connected and the analyser is powered and on the network. Recent device events are listed in the Devices tab.
- How do I change reference ranges or report wording?
- Reference ranges and interpretive text are clinic-configured in the analyte registry — ask your administrator.
- I've forgotten my password.
- An admin resets it from the Users screen in the admin portal.
- Can I work across more than one site?
- Yes — if you're authorised for several sites, pick your active site from the header; your work is attributed to that site.
